Home / Home Standby Generators
Generac & Kohler Home StandbyAn automatic standby generator senses the outage, starts itself, and carries your whole house — AC included — until the grid returns.
Here's how we size it, what it costs, and what installation looks like.

Every size is available from Generac (Next Gen & Protector Series) or Kohler — we recommend the exact unit at your free assessment. The smallest system we install is 14 kW: anything smaller can't reliably carry a central AC system through a Florida summer.
Standby systems only — we do not sell or service portable generators.
A load assessment at your breaker panel during the estimate — full engineering after you sign. Never a phone guess.
County permitting, engineering docs, and final inspection — all handled.
We assess your existing gas system and quote any additional meter, piping, or tank work your installation needs.
Simulated-outage test, cellular monitoring setup, and a walkthrough.
About ten seconds. The transfer switch senses the outage, starts the generator, and moves your home onto backup power automatically — whether you're home, asleep, or out of state. When utility power returns, it transfers back and shuts itself down.
Every system we install runs on your existing natural gas line or a propane tank. Natural gas infrastructure is underground and historically stays on through hurricanes; propane customers size the tank for 7–14 days of continuous runtime. Either way: no gas cans, no refueling at 2 a.m.
Honestly: an air-cooled unit under load is noticeably louder than a central AC condenser — you'll know it's running. It also runs a brief weekly self-test at a time you choose. Liquid-cooled units run much quieter and are the usual choice for strict HOA sound requirements.
We pull all county permits and produce the site plan and spec sheets your HOA architectural review board asks for. We've been permitting electrical work in Palm Beach County since 1986 — this is the part we make invisible for you.
In coastal Florida, yes — appraiser and Consumer Reports estimates put whole-home standby at roughly 3–5% of home value, and buyers increasingly search for it by name. It's one of the few storm upgrades that shows up in the listing headline.
The physical install is usually one day — but plan on 8–12 weeks from signing to a running system once design, permitting, and inspection are counted. Some building departments move faster, and lead times stretch further once a storm is named. That's why the time to start is well before hurricane season.
